Special 4 week Volunteer and Travel Program
Our Starfish Gap Adventure is a 4 week combination of volunteer work and volunteer travel. Your journey takes you from bustling Bangkok to rural Thailand, a special gap adventure for people wishing to volunteer and travel. We will take you to some of the most beautiful places in Thailand, teach you all about Thai culture, Thai tradition, and you will have an amazing two weeks volunteer work experience.
Starfish meets all its volunteers in Bangkok from their flight. Your first couple of days will be spent in Bangkok getting to know your fellow volunteers, our coordinators and of course Thailand. Bangkok is a bustling city and was voted this year ‘City of the Year 2008’. Bangkok has everything; amazing shopping, incredible nightlife and some breathtaking sights. Our coordinators will help you get to know Bangkok.
Your next stop is Surin in NE Thailand, away from the tourists crowds where you will experience real Thai life firsthand. To maximise this experience we teach you a few ‘must know’ phrases and our local staff will take excellent care of you and your fellow travellers. If you haven’t been to Thailand before you are in for a real treat. It is such a vibrant place and Surin a mix of Laos, Cambodian and Thai culture.
Now you know all about Thailand and its people you are ready to start your volunteer work. There are several options for your two weeks volunteering, from working on our farm to teaching English. Prior to arriving in Thailand you can chat with your coordinator about your choice of volunteer work. Our coordinators will also inform you of any additional seasonal work available during your time in Thailand.
After two weeks volunteering you and your fellow volunteers will have a well deserved break. Our staff will accompany you on the last leg of your gap year adventure; one week’s organised volunteer travel. Your first stop will be Thailand oldest national park, Khao Yai. After a few days trekking, sightseeing, and outdoor activities such as bamboo rafting you will head for the island of Ko Samet.
Ko Samet is a few hours east of Bangkok; an island popular with Thais, holiday makers and backpackers alike. A beautiful island with many amazing beaches and relatively unspoilt. There is also the beach BBQs and night life to enjoy. This is a great way to end your time with Starfish; relax on a fabulous island with your new friends and plan your next trip! Once you have experienced Thailand you will definitely be back.
